Wildflower

This is some type of cone flower that grows out on the trails, if you know the proper name let me know. It grows very tall and looks so regal.Posted by Picasa

This is one of my favorite wedding pictures. Ashley Wilson was a beautiful bride. I was lurking around the corner when she walked across the bridge and could not resist taking this picture. Her mom tells me it turned out to be one of the best ones taken during the wedding.

Suspension Bridge/ Bob Mac's Crossing

This is the 115 foot suspension bridge that connects our two miles of trails. The bridge hangs over a tributory of walnut creek. In the creek bed below cinnamon and wood ferns abound, also honey suckle and Louisana iris.

First Day of Spring

Since tomorrow is the first day of spring, I thought this would be the perfect time to start my blog about the Arboretum. It is already starting to get busy for us here, events, gardens to plant, and weeds to pull! Today I am starting my search for a part- time employee to work for the next six months. I am asking a lot from this person, they will be doing everything from pulling weeds to being a weekend grounds host, to working weddings and sometimes even some office work. It is a good postion for a person who is looking to enter parks managment. Because we have a small staff, you get a well rounded table of expeience . Our second annual car show is Saturday, March 28, there will be classic and antique cars, muscle cars and street rods here. Last year we had a great turn out, and everyone who came had a great time. We also have a tree dedication later that afternoon. This week is spring break, and the Arboretum has been very busy with folks getting out and enjoying the great out doors with thier kids! Tomorrow I will post about our new plans for the childrens play garden, stay tuned , your kids are going to love it!
